MAE HONG SON, 24 MARCH 2013 The blaze that broke out Friday night at a camp for Karen refugees in Mae Hong Son has killed at least 60 people. Following the fire incident, soldiers, police officers, medical teams and rescue workers have been dispatched to the Mae Surin refugee camp in Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province.
They were rushed to save the victims and help evacuate the refugees to a temporary shelter, located 1 kilometer from the camp.
Mae Hong Son provincial governor Narumol Paravat traveled to visit and provide relief aid to the survivors.
The unofficial death toll has risen to as many as 60 while the search operation continued.
