The cabinet on Tuesday acknowleged the prime minister’s endorsement of a Royal Command designating December 5 of every year as a Day of National Importance in remembrance of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Government assistant spokesman Col Athisit Chainuwat said December 5 is a day of importance because it coincides with the late King’s birthday, the National Father’s Day and the National Day.
Meanwhile, the cabinet resolved to make December 5 a public holiday.
