BANGKOK, 12 May 2013 Teachers in the southern border region are confident in the security programs designed to protect them although they remain unsure about the effectiveness of the actual implementation.

Chairperson of the Confederation of Teachers of the Three Southern Border Provinces Boonsom Thongsriprai said that his latest meeting with all security agencies in the restive region, on Saturday, discussed the details of the safety programs for educators and school personnel after the new school term begins.

Mr. Boonsom stated that all security programs have had assured him that teachers and school staff will be safe while traveling between their homes or residences and schools.

However, he conceded to remain concerned about how much security personnel will be able to stick to all plans as a single loophole may put teachers at risks of being targeted by insurgent groups.

The new school term in the Deep South is set to start on May 16, while police and military personnel in the region are getting ready to provide safety for all lives.
