Defense Minister orders military to aid flood victims in Northern and Northeastern Thailand

Phumtham has directed the military to expedite efforts to assist flood-affected communities in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has directed the military on September 15 to expedite efforts to assist flood-affected communities in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand. In Chiang Rai, the 3rd Army Region has deployed teams and engineering units to clean up mud and debris in flood-impacted areas.

Phumtham instructed the 2nd Army Region to closely monitor the flood situation in the northeastern provinces, particularly in Nong Khai. Military personnel and equipment have been dispatched to help relocate people, livestock, and essential goods to safer locations.



Additionally, the Navy’s Mekong River Patrol Unit, in collaboration with the 2nd Army Region and the Armed Forces Development Command, has prepared to assist those affected in Nong Khai province.

In Chiang Rai, as floodwaters recede, the 3rd Army Region has reinforced its teams to aid residents in Mueang District. Engineering units have been deployed to clean up mud and debris left by the floods. Central units of the Ministry of Defense are also on standby to provide further assistance as needed. (TNA)
