BANGKOK, Thailand – Social media is ablaze with criticism after a video surfaced showing a motorcycle running a red light and hitting a South Korean tourist who was crossing the street on a zebra crossing. The incident occurred at the same spot where Dr. Rabbit (Kratai) was fatally struck while crossing in a similar manner.

On January 26, the Facebook page “We Love Checkpoints” posted a tragic video captured by a dashcam. The footage shows a vehicle stopping at a zebra crossing at a red light, allowing pedestrians to cross. However, a motorcycle speeds through the light and crashes into a pedestrian, sending the victim tumbling onto the pavement.

The accident happened on January 23 at 5:00 PM at the zebra crossing on Phaya Thai Road, in front of Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital, Thung Phaya Thai Sub-district, Ratchathewi District, Bangkok.

The injured victim, a 68-year-old South Korean tourist, suffered a head injury and was rushed to Phyathai 1 Hospital. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries. A subsequent alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 0, and legal proceedings are underway.

The Facebook page commented on the incident, stating, “Same spot where Dr. Rabbit was hit—red lights mean nothing here.”
