BANGKOK, 1 May 2014 –The Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajva has met with Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem, Palang Chon Party leader, to discuss the possibility of the country’s political reform.

Both party leaders, Abhisit and Sonthaya, held a press conference right after a 45-minute meeting, saying the two politicians agreed that it would be acceptable if the election was delayed to ease tensions, adding it would not be good for any side, if the country went ahead with an election without general agreement.

Mr. Abhisit said he would compile information and ideas gained from the leadership figures he had met, and draw up a potential solution to the ongoing conflict, before proposing it to the public. He said the final draft of his proposal would be ready in the next couple of days.

Mr. Abhisit had earlier met with Bhumjaithai Party leader Anuthin Chanwirakun and advisor to the Chart Pattana Party Suwat Liptapanlop. He also held discussions with the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen Thanasak Patimapragorn and the Election Commission.
