BANGKOK, 30 May 2011 – The Democrat Party is set to publicize its economic vision this week while welcoming Pheu Thai prime minister candidate Yingluck Shinawatra’s agreement to join a pre-election debate.
Democrat Party Spokesperson Buranaj Smutharaks announced that the party would organize a seminar at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on 3 June to convey its vision for the national economy as part of its ‘Moving Thailand Forward’ campaign. The event will be chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, as the Democrat Leader, with the participation of businesspeople and academics, both Thai and foreign.
Meanwhile, after Ms Yingluck, Pheu Thai top party-list candidate, had accepted the challenge to go face-to-face with Mr Abhisit in a debate prior to the election, MD Buranaj said the Democrat welcomed her acceptance, believing that the debate would allow her to present solutions to national problems by herself and would help voters in their decision making. The Spokesperson has been tasked by his party to coordinate with Pheu Thai and the debate organizer during this period.
