Democrat will fight amnesty law, says its spokesman

BANGKOK, 1 November 2013  – The Democrats dig in their heels against the amnesty bill, passed second and third readings in the Lower House early Friday morning. 

According to Democrat’s spokesperson Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, the party will continue to go all out rallying against the amnesty bill, which focuses on whitewashing the crimes committed by self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and paving the way for his return to Thailand.

Chavanond said the Democrat party would lodge a complaint with the Constitutional Court to block the legislation.

He also invited anyone who opposed the bill to join the demontration at the Democrat Party’s headquarters in Bangkok Friday evening.
