Thailand’s deputy prime minister joined top provincial and city officials at at Pattaya’s Nong Nooch Tropical Garden Thursday to review examples of sustainable tourism that created jobs and harmony in the local community.
Maj. Gen. Sanan Kajornprasart, Chonburi Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit and Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome listened to administration organization development director Narik-Atipak Saengsanit discuss how “communal tourism” can foster unity in a nation sorely lacking just that these days.
Thailand currently has 33 special development areas, he said. In each, government is working with the private sector to build tourism together.
Sanan praised the idea of government officials sitting and talking with private-sector counterparts. He said such tourism projects can create jobs and keep families together.
