Deputy PM Pridiyathorn is Thai government’s richest minister: NACC

BANGKOK, Oct 31 — Deputy Prime Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula, who oversees economic affairs, has declared assets totalling over 1 billion baht, making him the richest of the 33 cabinet ministers in the government of Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha, the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) reported today.

The NACC said Mr Pridiyathorn has assets of about Bt1.4 billion and no liabilities.

Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Panadda Diskul is second richest among the cabinet ministers as his assets are valued at approximately Bt1.3  billion baht with no liabilities, said the NACC.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut  has assets of about Bt128 million while his liabilities total Bt654,745 only.

Education Minister Admiral Narong Pipatanasai has the least assets among the ministers as his assets stand about Bt7 million and liabilities nearly Bt3 million.

The interim government has governed the country since September 4 and, according to the interim Constitution and for the sake of  transparency, the ministers must declare their assets and liabilities to the NACC and to the public.
