The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) has assured the public that personal data registered via the Thang Rath application, used for the 10,000-baht digital wallet handout, is secure and protected against cyberattacks. The statement addresses rumors that the app failed to meet Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) standards.

DES Minister Prasert Chantararuangthong stated that the agency and the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) have implemented guidelines to ensure cybersecurity throughout the project. These measures include system reviews, testing, and continuous threat monitoring.

State agencies are monitoring online information to counter scams and misleading information, including fake websites and apps. A business continuity and disaster recovery plan is also in place.

The Thang Rath app, which provides access to various government services, saw around 14.5 million registrations on the first day of the digital wallet program. Despite system overloads, authorities dismissed reports of a crash.
