The Government Lottery Office’s (GLO) initiative to deploy a digital lottery mechanism last year has since been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from lottery enthusiasts.
GLO Chairman Lavaron Sangsnit recently announced the office’s collaboration with Krung Thai Bank to develop the digital lottery platform via the “Pao Tang” application. The application has played a pivotal role in allowing people to access lottery tickets priced at 80 baht.
Since the launch of digital lottery ticket sales on the Pao Tang application from June 16, 2022 to June 16 of this year, about 356 million digital lottery tickets in total have been sold. The platform has also seen the participation of over 38,000 small-scale lottery vendors from across Thailand, with over 5.8 million buyers and 1.135 million lucky winners for total prize earnings exceeding 17 billion baht.
This year, the GLO aims to sell no less than 25 million digital lottery tickets per drawing on the Pao Tang app, up from 18.6 million tickets currently.
The “80 Baht Lottery Shop” project meanwhile has 1,236 outlets nationwide, with plans to expand even further going forward. Additionally, issues relating to the types and formats of six-digit and three-digit government lottery tickets are currently under review, with plans to present a proposal for approval at an upcoming Cabinet meeting.
