BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat has confirmed that Phase 3 of the digital money system is on track for completion by March 2025, aligning with its operational schedule. Senior citizen payments are set to proceed on January 29 as planned.
According to Julapun, the system is currently in its development stage, with testing scheduled to begin in February or March. The Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) is overseeing this phase and considering a sandbox approach to ensure seamless functionality. Full rollout is expected in Q2 2025, with additional beneficiary groups gradually included.
Regarding the three-number lottery or N3 lottery, Julapun acknowledged limited public enthusiasm since its launch. The system, which is under a sandbox testing phase until April, has restricted distribution channels and remains under review.
The government will assess whether the N3 lottery can replace underground and traditional lotteries without reducing the state lottery’s market share. A thorough review after the sandbox testing period will determine its long-term viability.
Julapun assured that both the digital money system and the N3 lottery are being closely monitored, with future decisions to be informed by the outcomes of ongoing evaluations and public feedback. (NNT)
