Starting the Day with a Chill – Doi Inthanon’s temperature dips to just 7°C in the morning, making it ideal for a foggy, scenic escape.

CHIANG MAI, Thailand – Temperatures on Thailand’s Doi Inthanon plummeted to a brisk 7°C, marking one of the season’s lowest readings on the morning of November 4. Visitors to the iconic peak enjoyed the refreshing cold amidst the dense morning mist and picturesque mountain landscape. As winter approaches, these crisp, chilly mornings are becoming more common, drawing nature lovers eager to experience Thailand’s cooler season.

Locals and tourists alike are advised to dress warmly and prepare for potentially lower temperatures as the area’s early-morning chill continues through the coming weeks. Doi Inthanon’s unique climate is a favorite among those looking to embrace a misty and serene start to the day.

The Thai Meteorological Department reports that temperatures in northern Thailand will drop by an additional 1-2°C, with cool morning conditions expected to continue. Meanwhile, the lower northeastern region may experience isolated light rain.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, the department attributes this cooling trend to a moderate-to-strong high-pressure system from China now affecting upper Thailand. This system brings chilly mornings and a slight temperature decrease in the North. Light rain is also expected in parts of the lower Northeast.

Additionally, southeasterly winds over the eastern coast are causing thunderstorms along the coastal areas, and residents in these areas are advised to take precautions due to the changing weather conditions.

In the South, the monsoon trough over the central region and moderate northeastern winds over the Gulf of Thailand are contributing to heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. This could lead to flash floods and runoffs, especially in low-lying areas and near water channels.

Wave activity in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea is moderate, with wave heights of 1-2 meters in the upper Gulf and about 1 meter in the lower Gulf and the Andaman Sea, rising to over 2 meters in stormy areas. The department advises sailors to proceed with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms.

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, temperatures are forecasted to range from a low of 24-26°C to a high of 32-34°C. (TNA)
