Bangkok – Crime-busting and public health agencies have continued with their joint crackdown on the production of illegal beauty items in Don Mueang district of Bangkok.
More than 800 policemen and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials raided Talat Mai Don Mueang on Sunday, targeting 67 remaining shops. The raid found 164 outlets were selling illegal goods, including cosmetics and food supplements. Many of them claimed to be imports from South Korea, Japan and Europe.
The FDA Secretary-General, Dr Wanchai Sattayawuttipong said that legally imported goods must carry Thai-language registration labels issued by the FDA. Meantime, a large volume of beauty items and seven machines have been seized for inspection.
Deputy national police chief, Pol General Weerachai Songmetta disclosed that police will examine whether the market’s owner has violated construction laws or has breached the lease contract with the Treasury Department.
