BANGKOK, 30 May 2013 The deputy prime minister in charge of security has blamed anti-government groups as the source of recent rumors about possible violence in Bangkok.

Deputy PM Chalerm Ubumrung said on Thursday that rumors, which have been spreading via social networking websites and warned of possible violence in crowded areas of Bangkok in the evening, were merely the works of ill-intended people.

In order to boost confidence, the Deputy PM has planned to join a patrol across the capital on Thursday night.

He also stated that that the spread of fears and worries could involve anti-government groups, but not the Army.

Mr. Chalerm added that the recent explosion in Ramkhamhaeng area of Bangkok was likely related to business conflicts even though the police intelligence report earlier ruled out that possibility.
