BANGKOK, 2 July 2013 Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanjana said he is not concerned by the Opposition’s move to impeach the Prime Minister and her cabinet for violating the anti-corruption laws by colluding with bidders for the 350 billion baht water projects.

Mr. Ponthep, in his capacity as legal advisor to the case, stated that a committee has been set up to study the lawsuit filed against the government over the implementation of the water projects.

Documents and information will be compiled and forwarded to the committee overseeing the case for consideration next Monday. The committee will work out an implementation guideline for the government and will also submit an appeal against the Central Administrative Court’s ruling within 30 days.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the projects that are not harmful to the environment will get the go-ahead. Public hearings will be held on a case-by-case basis as suggested by the court’s order. He reiterated that the water projects will proceed strictly in compliance with the rules of law.
