BANGKOK – The Minister of Interior has revealed the ongoing drought situation only affects the agricultural sector, before dispatching a committee to surveying the affected areas.
The Minister of Interior Gen Anupong Paojinda has said 30 provinces have now been declared as drought affected areas, with major pressure on the agricultural sector, with only minor disruptions to consumption water production.
He said that the current problems have not affected entire provinces, just in some areas. Authorities will be dispatching a committee to survey and compile the damage report to further provide assistance to the affected public.
The Ministry will be cooperating with water managing agencies to aid farmers, while more provinces may declare themselves as drought affected areas, depending on the situation, said the Minister of Interior, expecting no more provinces to announce drought disaster situations.
