BANGKOK, 17 August 2015 – The Department of Skill Development (DSD) will be working in collaboration with educational institutions to raise the standards of vocational skills for Thai students, bringing them on a par with international standards.

Thailand has recently won one gold and one bronze medal at World Skills 2015 competition in Brazil. According to DSD Director General M.L. Boondarik Smithi, Thai students have also received 10 certificates of skill recognition from the contest.

He added that Thailand is the only nation in ASEAN to win a gold medal this year. However, he said the number of medals Thailand won has declined compared to those it grabbed in the previous competition as new technology has been introduced and stricter rules have been enforced.

One of the contestants, Mr. Danaikarn Srisuk, said everyone did their best at WorldSkills. They by no means feel discouraged by the results and will use their experiences and new ideas to improve the country.
