PHUKET, Jan 14 – A Dutch tourist was murdered and his body was dumped in the sea off the resort island of Phuket,  according to local police.

The body of the Dutchman was found 500 metres from Patong Beach.

Police said a severe wound, caused by sharp object, was found at the back of his head. The police believe he had been dead for at least four hours when his body was found.

Police said a passport and a large amount of money were found in a cloth bag.

The passport identified him as Stephan Henricus Maria Buczynski, 26.

According to the police, it is initially presumed that he was attacked from the back while he was exercising on the beach. His body was dumped into the sea.

Police investigators did not rule out a business conflict or a love affair as the possible cause of his death as his valuables were not taken by the attacker.
