DWR expects 196 million cubic meters of more water from new ground water projects

BANGKOK, 22 July 2015 – The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is expected to be able to store up to 196 million of cubic meters of water when its ground water program is completed.

DWR Director-General Jatuporn Buruspat is going to report to the National Water Resources Committee’s meeting today the progress of the nationwide water saving campaign and the cabinet’s deliberation on the water management strategy.

He added that underground water has already been located in 425 locations. Once 270 more sites have been identified, these sources of water could provide a combined amount of 196 million cubic meters of water.

The DWR Director-General further stated that more farmers have been registering with the Ministry of Interior for jobs as drought crisis has forced them to abandon their crops. Many of them have already started their new jobs.
