Bangkok – The eastern and southern regions of Thailand are receiving continuous heavy rain and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has advised the public to be on alert for flash floods and landslides.
Eight provinces in the East and the South which are experiencing or are likely to receive heavy rainfall this week include Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Chumphon and Surat Thani. Authorities in these areas have been instructed to monitor weather conditions, the volume of rainfall and water levels around the clock and prepare rapid response teams and equipment to help any victims of floods.
People are advised to be on alert for dangers caused by heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, especially on hillsides which are risk areas. Residents will be immediately evacuated to a safe place if the authorities think they are likely to be affected.
