BANGKOK, 10 June 2015 – The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) has expressed its readiness to distribute copies of the new constitution for the public within the necessary timeframe.
The EC chairman revealed that in the event the National Reform Council (NRC) approves of the constitution at the beginning of September, the EC will be in charge of publishing 19 million copies to be distributed to the public by November 30. A public referendum will then be held on January 10, 2016.
The EC chairman stressed that the government must allocate the resources necessary for the commission to complete the referendum process. The cost of publishing and distributing the documents is approximately three billion baht.
