BANGKOK, 31st October 2013 The Ministry of Education has held a “Language Learning and Thinking Showcase” to exchange ideas and discuss the possibilities of an educational reform.
Chaturon Chaisang, Education Minister presided over the opening ceremony of the event, held at the Bangkok Convention Center, Central World; where he made a keynote address on the importance of human development and the need for an education reform in order to further develop the nation.
Education must be prioritized as a major policy and all aspects of learning must be carefully monitored, in terms of course outlines and suitable evaluation examinations. New national standardized tests must be designed.
In addition to improving the course and evaluation procedures, we must also reform teaching and learning methods for every subject. Based on statistics, the subject of the Thai language must be reformed urgently.The roles of teacher must be focused on, enabling them to teach students how to analyze, given students can easily look up answers on their own to with the help of technology. Students must be equipped with the ability to analyze as well as to understand the contexts, added Chaturon.
