BANGKOK, Dec 24 – The Election Commission (EC) will meet urgently this morning to review the registration process for election candidates but insisted it will continue its task despite obstruction by anti-government protesters.

Somchai Srisuthiyakorn,  EC commissioner in charge of election administration, said the second day of registration for party-listed candidates for the February 2 general elections will be held at the Thai-Japanese Stadium, Din Daeng.

The registration is open as planned until Friday.

Protesters have blocked the registration building in the stadium compound since Sunday night, barring officials and the media from entering the property yesterday.

Officials in charge of the registration will meet at the EC office on Chaeng Wattana Road this morning and go to the Thai-Japanese stadium together to see if they will be allowed to enter the building.
