‘Emergency Directors Group under the Inter-Agency Steering Committee (IASC)’ Thailand and Myanmar visit

Both sides discussed humanitarian situation in Myanmar, as well as exchanged information and views on way forward to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need in Myanmar.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Paisal Rupanichkij, discussed with the Emergency Directors Group under the Inter-Agency Steering Committee (IASC), the humanitarian coordination forum of the United Nations system, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand and Myanmar during 26-30 August 2024. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Phuchphop Mongkolnavin, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Organizations, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director General of Thailand International Development Agency, Mr. Vorapun Srivoranart, Deputy Director General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, and officers from relevant departments of the Ministry.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary shared latest updates on Thailand’s humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, including the contribution of 9,000,000 baht (approximately 280,000 USD) to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) to support the delivery of critical humanitarian assistance to affected population in hard-to-reach areas with a view to supporting the implementation of the ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus.
