BANGKOK, 21 May 2015 – The Minister of Energy has kicked off the LED Expo Thailand 2015, with an aim to encourage people to help conserve power by opting for LED lamps.

While presiding over the opening ceremony for the LED Expo Thailand 2015 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Energy Minister Narongchai Akrasanee gave an address to participants, saying his ministry has prepared a comprehensive policy on energy resources management and conservation. He stated that the policy was designed in accordance with the 20-year Energy Efficiency Action Plan, which targets to reduce power consumption by 25 percent.

The minister said an important aspect of the policy is the promotion of the use of energy-efficient devices, including LED lamps. Therefore, the LED Expo Thailand 2015, the largest of its kind in ASEAN, is being organized by the Energy Ministry in cooperation with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to introduce LED products and other power-saving innovations to the public.

The event will be open from now until May 24 between 11 am and 6 pm daily. According to EGAT Governor Soonchai Kumnoonsate, the first three days are reserved for business negotiations while the general public will be welcome on the last day. With huge discounts being offered by over 350 exhibitors, he believes more than 18,000 people, both Thai and foreign, will be visiting the fair.
