European countries are preparing for Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha’s planned visit in June.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai said the Thai premier will travel to European nations this month to visit several countries. Gen Prayut’s visit to Europe was originally scheduled for May, but due to his busy schedule, his trip had to be postponed.
The Foreign Ministry and the host countries are yet to determine the exact date of Gen Prayut’s visit, according to Don.
The European Union late last year announced that it would resume political contact at all levels with Thailand after putting relations on hold following the 2014 coup by the Thai military.
Since the announcement, Thailand has welcomed many European diplomats and attaches including those from the UK, Italy, and France.
In March 2018, Don visited EU headquarters and met with a number of high-ranking officials such as the deputy prime minister of Belgium and his Italian counterpart.
Lastly, he said European nations are looking forward to meeting the Thai Prime Minister and discussing a wide array of matters.
