The results of the forensic examination have been released, confirming that Pol.Col. Wachira Yaothaisong, superintendent of the Highway Police Division shot himself dead at his house in Pathum Thani, said National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas.

After an extensive inspection of the shooting scene by various agencies, no signs of foul play or any external involvement were found prior to the incident.

Consequently, investigators turned their attention to the forensic examination of the firearm found at the scene using state-of-the-art tools. It was revealed that traces of gunshot residue were detected on both sides of the deceased’s hands, indicating that he used his right hand to hold the gun while using his left hand to support it.

Based on all available evidence, it is concluded that this was a case of self-inflicted gunshot, supported by the physical evidence at the scene and the findings of forensic science, all of which are consistent with each other.

Prior to the incident, Pol. Col. Wachira expressed regret that his subordinate Pol. Maj. Sivakorn Saibua had been shot dead at the house of the sub-district chief in Nakhon Pathom. Pol.Col. Wachira did not bring the firearm with him as it was a social gathering. After the shooting occurred, Pol. Col. Wachira brought Pol. Maj. Sivakorn to hospital. (TNA)
