BANGKOK, 13 June 2014 – The Ministry of Public Health has set up a Facebook to facilitate the reporting of illegal practices by beauty clinics and other health services establishments.

Officials from the Department of Health Service Support, the Food and Drug Administration, the Dermatological Society of Thailand and police officers conducted a raid on a clinic in Bangkok’s Sutthisan area on Thursday after learning that a customer who visited the clinic had become blind after being injected with filler material by a person other than a doctor.

The blinded customer received filler injection in the nose.

The agencies involved in the raid have agreed that from now on, the Department of Health Service Support will regulate the standard of filler materials for cosmetic surgery, and the Food and Drug Administration will regulate the use of the filler materials.

Reports of substandard clinics can be made at the ‘illegal clinics enforcer’ Facebook page or through the 24-hour call center at 02-193-9999.
