UDON THANI, Thailand – The father of a Thai woman who tragically died in the Jeju Air plane crash in South Korea is seeking assistance to bring his daughter’s body back to her hometown in Udon Thani for her funeral. The plane had skidded off the runway and exploded at the Muan Airport in South Korea, leading to several casualties, including Ms. Jongluck Duangmanee.
Boonchuay Duangmanee, 77, the father of the deceased, shared that his daughter, Jonglax, had just returned to Thailand to visit her family and was on her way back to South Korea to resume her work. He expressed his desire to bring her body home for the final rites, hoping to see his daughter one last time. Jongluck had been living and working in South Korea for about seven years, and was married to a South Korean national, working in a factory in Naju city.
Boonchuay recalled that his daughter frequently traveled on Jeju Air for her trips to and from South Korea. On December 29, Jongluck had returned to South Korea after visiting Thailand with her husband, who had already returned earlier in the month. Tragically, she was among those who lost their lives in the plane crash.
The family, alongside local authorities, is now working to bring her body back to Thailand for her final rites. Today, Miss Pornpimol Anchalee, the District Chief Officer of Nong Wua So, and social development officers from Udon Thani visited Boonchuay to express condolences and gather information to assist with the process of repatriation and providing the necessary support.
