Pattaya will host the Thai film industry’s version of The Oscars on Sunday, March 6 as the Suphanahong Awards celebrate their 20th anniversary at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.
The Federation of National Film Association of Thailand held a press conference on Feb. 24 to announce the five films that have been nominated to share the 16 prestigious awards. These movies are “Eternity”, “Nak-Prok”, “That Sound Goods”, “Hello Stranger” and “Red Eagle”.

Jaruk Kanjaruk, President of the National Film Association, said that in this 20th anniversary year there would also be two special awards granted to Charoen Iampungporn and Somsak Taecharattanaprasert for their outstanding contribution to the Thai movie industry.
This festive event, starting at 3 p.m., will feature live outdoor music, prize drawings, and film screenings. The awards ceremony itself will be held at the SFX Cinema complex on the sixth floor of the shopping mall.
Traffic will be restricted and re-routed extensively between the beachfront mall and Sukhumvit Road on Sunday, so drivers are advised to watch for signs and expect delays.
