BANGKOK, 17 June 2015 – The Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is quickly trying to reinforce the flood prevention system the Bang Kapi business district.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra has recently inspected the drainage system at Khlong Lam Phang Phuai. The system is responsible for alleviating flooding on roads in Wang Thong Lang, Lat Phrao, Bueng Kum, and Bang Kapi districts.
Meanwhile, BMA Deputy Permanent Secretary Attaporn Suwattanadeja has traveled to Dusit district and its surrounding areas to observe the flood prevention operation, as the area is considered high risk for flooding.
BMA officials have been instructed to respond to any flooding situation within 24 hours. Deputy Army Spokesperson Colonel Sirichan Ngathong said the army will be ready to dispatch troops alongside BMA officers to assist people affected by inundation in the capital and its vicinity.
