BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) is set to hold a joint meeting with 57 provinces on September 24 to discuss the distribution of flood relief funds for the 2024 rainy season. The gathering will focus on ensuring that financial assistance is provided to flood-affected citizens in compliance with legal guidelines. Provincial governors, disaster officials, and local administrators will be in attendance to discuss procedures for the timely distribution of the funds.

The flood relief funds have been allocated to provinces that have experienced flooding since May 2024 and declared disaster zones. Among the 57 provinces set to receive support are Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Phuket. The gathering ensures that funds are distributed efficiently to those in need, with affected citizens able to apply for relief through onsite and online submissions.

The DDPM has urged affected citizens to follow updates regarding relief efforts via the department’s social media channels. The goal is to ensure that financial assistance reaches those impacted by flooding as quickly as possible, alleviating the hardships caused by the severe weather.

Citizens are encouraged to apply for relief either at local government offices or through the forthcoming online system, which is designed to reduce paperwork and improve convenience. (NNT)
