CHIANG MAI, Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a Level 3 (Yellow) flood warning for several subdistricts in Chiang Mai province, advising residents in affected areas to prepare for potential riverbank overflows and rising water levels. The warning, issued at 9:30 a.m. on October 7, applies to Pa Daet subdistrict, as well as Thung Tom and Mae Ka subdistricts in San Pa Tong and Saraphi districts.

The DDPM has urged residents to move belongings to higher ground and evacuate vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly, children, and those with limited mobility, to safer locations. The warning comes as the region faces continued heavy rains, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying and riverside areas.

The public is encouraged to report emergencies and request assistance through the DDPM’s “Emergency Notification 1784” Line service by adding the ID @1784DDPM or by calling the 1784 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation hotline, which operates around the clock. The DDPM is actively monitoring the situation and working with local authorities to ensure a timely response to affected communities.

Residents in the designated areas are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and heed evacuation instructions from local authorities as the situation develops. (NNT)
