BANGKOK – Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok and Nakhon Sawan provinces are still affected by flooding. The southern region has been warned to prepare for widespread rain and heavy rain in some areas.
Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chatchai Phromlert said continuous heavy rain in many parts of the country had caused flooding in the three provinces. Although the rain had stopped, some parts of the three provinces were still flooded but they were expected to dry out in 1-2 days, said the official.
The provincial administrations have cooperated with the military and relevant units in assisting the flood-affected people.
The Meteorological Department has reported that northeastern wind has still blown over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, resulting in heavy rain in some areas in the region. The department has therefore closely monitored the weather for 24 hours and prepared equipment to handle possible disasters in flood-risk areas.
