SA KAEW, 8 October 2013 – The heavy rains that lashed the province of Sa Kaew has resulted in Arunyaprathet municipality being completely inundated.

Several major roads in the province have been cut off due to flood water heights of between 50 centimeters and 1 meter, and consequently many communities have been isolated. Officials struggled on Monday to find detours for motorists who would otherwise be stranded on the road. According to provincial authorities, the current flood situation could be more severe than that of last year.

Meanwhile, flooding in the tourist hot spot of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikhan remained unresolved on Monday, due to continuous downpours that constantly add water to the inundation level, effectively hindering authorities’ efforts to discharge the floodwater into the sea. Flooding was experienced as far as the Thai-Myanmar border in Huay Sat Yai and Bung Nakhon sub-districts.
