AYUTTHAYA, Thailand – The flooding crisis in Ayutthaya province has intensified, impacting five districts: Bang Ban, Phak Hai, Bang Sai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Sena. The flood has affected 52 sub-districts, 223 villages, and 6,031 households.

The water level has risen by 10-20 centimeters on September 3, following an increase in the water release from Chao Phraya Dam to 1,449 cubic meters per second. This has led to extensive flooding in areas near rivers and canals, particularly those along the Chao Phraya and Noi rivers, where water has overflowed for over a week.

In Ban Hua Wiang, Sena district, the water has been rising for about a week. Local resident, 72-year-old Chamlong Rueksunthorn, reported that the water has reached 50-60 centimeters deep in some homes. This has caused severe damage to vegetation and crops, leading to increased concerns among residents about the severity of the flooding. Residents are anxiously hoping that this year’s flooding will not reach the levels seen last year, where water nearly reached the floors of many homes.

Residents are continuing to monitor the situation closely, praying that the flooding will not worsen as it did in previous years.
