BANGKOK, 11 September 2012 – The Governor of Sukhothai has revealed that all sectors have been instructed by the Prime Minister to help Sukhothai drain floodwater from the municipality as the flood situation in the area starts to stabilize.
Sukhothai Governor Chakkrin Pleanwong said the flood had reached the City Hall and many other government offices, including the provincial energy office which had been submerged under the flood of 50 centimeters deep. A number of shops have been closed while car owners have parked their vehicles on the shoulders of elevated roads to escape the floodwater.
Mr Chakkrin stated that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had already assigned all related officials to help with the flood draining operation in Sukhothai. He also assured the locals that the situation would be under control soon and the provincial administration would do the utmost to assist them.
