PHANG-NGA, July 4 – A villager was killed by a landslide as floodwater has risen and extended over wider areas in the southern province of Phang-nga.

Main roads in Thai Mueang and Takua Pa districts are inaccessible as the water level is about 60 centimetres deep and is flowing swiftly.

An early morning landslide killed a 50-year-old man, Panya Kongnoi. About 20 houses have been cut off by 1.20 metres of water. Rescue workers are trying to evacuate them.

Local authorities have distributed food and drinking water for flood victims in initial relief operations.
