Foreign Tourist Numbers to Thailand Reach 39 Million

SAMUT PRAKAN, Dec 27 – The Tourism Minister welcomed the 39 millionth tourist, arriving in Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

PipatRatchakitprakan, the minister of tourism and sports led senior officials to inspect the airport on the first day of the mass exodus on the New Year holiday.

He welcomed the 39 millionth tourist, Mrs. Anna Pavlovskaya, 44 from Russia, travelling with her family for the third time to the kingdom.

The campaign “Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor, the Amazing Smashing Success” is aimed to attract tourists from all over the world and promote the country as the preferred destination.

The 39 millionth tourist received a certificate for being the luckiest visitor, five-night accommodation in Thailand, round tickets for two to travel from her home country to the Kingdom and free limousine service of the Airports of Thailand (AOT) from the airport to the hotel in Bangkok.

The number of foreign tourists this year reaches 39.77 people as targeted, up 4%, generating income of 1.96 trillion baht for the country.

Domestic tourism market recorded 167 million travelers, generating income of 1.1 trillion baht. The total tourism income for the whole year accounted for 3.06 trillion baht, up 4%. (TNA)
