Forestry Department reclaims 5,000 rai of encroached forest land in Nan

NAN – Forestry Department director general Chollathit Surassavadee said a combined force of forestry officials, police and the 32nd Rangers Regiment had reclaimed 5,000 rai of encroached forest land in Wiangsa district of Nan province.

They found a number of permanent structures built on three rai of forest land which will be demolished after the reclamation, the department head said.

He said all alleged forest encroachers, particularly those who have paid for such illegal practice, will be prosecuted by law while a solution to the problem will involve a long-term and integrated process. He called on all Thais to lend a hand in conserving the forests for future generations.
