BANGKOK, 9 August 2015 – Passengers will be able to use free Wifi services on some BMTA buses in Bangkok, while the service coverage in being extended to more buses.
The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) is now providing free wireless internet services on its Euro II air conditioned buses to those using the 3G mobile network.
The service was piloted on 140 Euro II buses since late 2014 and demonstrated good results. The BMTA is currently expanding the service to 550 Euro II buses, from the entire fleet of 1,500 buses, to improve the service quality to passengers.
The installation of Wifi services to new buses is expected to be completed in December, while the equipment will be re-installed in new buses entering the service instead of the existing buses in use.
