CHIANG MAI, Thailand – Northern Thailand continues to face freezing weather, with temperatures on Doi Inthanon plummeting to 0°C on Jan 6. Grass-top temperatures fell to -1.9°C, creating frost (hoarfrost) for the fourth time this year and the 12th time this winter.
At Kew Mae Pan Viewpoint, the temperature dropped dramatically from 7°C yesterday to 0°C today. Frost blanketed grass along the roadside at kilometer 42 and surrounding the viewpoint, dazzling tourists. Visitors flocked to capture memorable photos of the sparkling frost, while enjoying the morning sea of mist and sunrise.
Despite the lowest recorded temperature at the summit being 6°C, the cold weather persists, enhancing the beauty of the winter flora. Doi Inthanon remains a popular destination for both Thai and international tourists, with over 6,300 visitors recorded on Sunday. (TNA)
