BANGKOK, 11 November 2013 Former coup d’etat leader which ousted the government of Thaksin Shinawatra, and Matubhum Party leader, Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratglin, stated his doubts about current conflicts being resolved merely by the Senate refusing to pass the amnesty bill.
The Matubhum Party leader also stated that he agreed with the government to open a stage for all sides to voice their opinions on the matter – saying that without opportunities to negotiate, the situation may turn violent.
Gen. Sonthi further stated that the army will not get involved in the political arena this time round, as past experiences, he said, have shown him otherwise.
General Sonthi was one of the politicians proposing the six reconciliation bills already withdrawn from the House of Representatives.
