German President and spouse to visit Thailand on Jan 25

Thai Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Steinmeier, accompanied by relevant ministers, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors and will also engage in discussions with the German private sector.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will formally receive the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his delegation, including his spouse, Elke Budenbender, on Thursday, January 25, at Government House.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Steinmeier, accompanied by relevant ministers, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors. Both sides will also engage in discussions with the German private sector.



This visit is seen as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between Thailand and Germany. President Steinmeier and his delegation will explore several potential sectors in Thailand.

These include electric car and vehicle manufacturing plants, hybrid floating solar power plants, and comprehensive sustainable rice production projects. They will also visit contemporary Thai art museums. The visit is expected to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in trade, investment, energy, climate change, and vocational education.



This marks President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s first official trip to Thailand since assuming office and is the first presidential visit from Germany to Thailand in 22 years, following President Johannes Rau’s visit in 2002. (NNT)
