NEW YORK – Lisa from Blackpink delivered a spectacular performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), showcasing a medley of her hit songs ‘New Woman’ and ‘Rockstar’ in her debut solo performance on the VMAs stage at UBS Arena, New York.

During the red carpet event, Lisa teased fans to expect “a lot of red and flames” in her performance, and she delivered on that promise. Soon after the show, fans on the platform X (formerly Twitter) began sharing clips of her breathtaking performance, praising the electrifying spectacle.

Lisa was nominated in four categories that night, with her single ‘Rockstar’ receiving nominations for Best K-pop Song, Best Editing, Best Art Direction, and Best Choreography.

In addition to her VMAs appearance, Lisa recently graced the cover of ELLE magazine’s September issue, where she discussed the contrast between her on-stage persona and her real-life self in a video interview.

“On stage, everything has to be perfect,” Lisa shared. “That’s the performance version of Lisa. I want people to have fun and get up to dance with me. Sometimes, I have to work to get them to dance!” she added with a laugh. “Off stage, I’m super chill, just at home watching Netflix with my cats and dogs. When my cat curls up on me and starts purring, that’s the best moment.”

Lisa also spoke about working with her fellow Blackpink members—Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé—saying, “When we’re on stage [with Blackpink], we share energy. If she gives 100, I give 120. We can feel each other’s vibes, and I love that energy.”

Despite the members pursuing solo projects, Lisa assured fans that Blackpink remains strong. “Of course, we’re still moving forward,” Lisa told ELLE. “We’re so proud of Blackpink, and I love Blackpink. It’s not just for the fans, but for us too,” she added in Korean, “No doubt, this is our life.”
