BANGKOK – The government believes the country’s economy will recover this year as speculated.
Government Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the government had been content with its economic stimulus between December 25th and December 31st of 2015 which is when it granted tax breaks to all shoppers.
He said the incentive triggered spending throughout the kingdom and is considered very successful.
The spokesperson noted that due to the world economic recovery, Thailand’s economy is expected to rebound while the weakening baht will help boost Thai exports.
In addition, the government will continue to encourage more spending and investments as well as achieve higher tourism growth this year. The government is set to periodically issue measures and incentives in order to make sure that this year’s growth target will be achieved.
