Government expedites probe into leaked documents on Syrian men

BANGKOK- The government is urgently searching for those responsible for leaked documents on the Syrian nationals suspected of having IS connections. Acting Metropolitan Police Commander Pol.Gen.Sarawut Kanphanit said the results of a probe into the matter would be submitted to the police commissioner-general by 10 December.

Pol.Gen.Sarawut said the documents might have been leaked during a document process within a national security organization. Relevant officers had been asked about the matter and a committee had been set up to investigate it, said the acting commander.

Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol.Gen.Siwara Rangsiphramanakun said those involved in leaked confidential documents of the government were subject to disciplinary, criminal and civil charges.

As for the Syrian nationals, Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan said the government had checked their background and confirmed they were not linked with the IS group.
