BANGKOK, July 2015 – The government has unveiled a new campaign offering child support for low-income mothers.

Deputy PM Office Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd revealed that the government planned to provide a monthly stipend of 400 baht to low-income mothers. Relevant agencies have been instructed to publicize the campaign.

The offer applies to pregnant women from families earning less than 3,000 baht per month or from families without a de facto breadwinner. Those eligible must be expected to give birth between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.

Bangkok applicants can register at their district offices according to house registration. Non-Bangkok residents can register at municipal offices or district administrative organizations. Required documents include copies of house registration, ID cards and birth certificates.

In addition to the monthly allowance, the government will provide children of participating mothers free medical checkups and vaccinations to promote quality child rearing. Over 130,000 people are expected to register for the aid program. The project will undergo assessment after one year of implementation.
